CPIA is on the move! In the year I've been here, it's amazing how much has happened. We've successfully started a regional event, amped up our regular meetings and are adding some monthly meetings. We've promoting CPIA and photonics at dozens of venues in the state, nationally and internationally.
Things keep changing - the old adage that the only constant is change sure holds true for CPIA. Now it is time for CPIA to truly move - to new office space within the EKS&H offices in Boulder.
For the past year, I've had the indispensable help of being a part of the Advance Colorado Center. Sitting in the World Trade Center, moments away from the capital, key parts of the Colorado government, and international trade offices has been a great help to getting to know how things are done. Even more important has been my interaction with the other ACC tenants: Colorado Association for Manufacturing & Technology (CAMT), Colorado Biosciences Association (CBSA), CORE, CSIA, CTEK, the Colorado Film Commission, and the Colorado Nanotechnology Alliance. Their behind-the-scenes help and support are a key part of CPIA's success this past year.
As much as I hate to leave, the generous grant that allowed all of us to reside in the ACC for no cost has run it's course. And as far as CPIA has come, we still aren't financially strong enough to afford rent at a fabulous office on the 16th Street Mall.
This move is going to be good, though. CNA is going to be sitting in the office next door to me, so we can still collaborate and support each other, and we are getting in contact with groups like the Boulder Innovation Center and CO-Labs to keep the energy of non-profits helping each other alive.. CPIA will be able to hold more meetings in Boulder, still the biggest hub for the industry in the state (with 42% of the employees).
So keep your eyes open for more moving stories from CPIA.
