December 10, 2018 – The National Academy of Inventors (NAI) today named two members of the CU Boulder research community to its class of fellows for 2018 including John “Jan” Hall, a fellow and senior research associate at JILA. October 12, 2018 – CU Boulder awarded $57.4 million contract with NASA. CU’s Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics will build an instrument in partnership with Langley on its the Climate Absolute Radiance and Refractivity Observatory Pathfinder mission that will measure sunlight reflected from the Earth and will calibrate satellite sensors that monitor the Earth system. September 12, 2018 Nite Ize moves operations from Boulder to Longmont

Nite Ize Inc., a Boulder-headquartered manufacturer that makes products from flashlights to cellphone accessories, has taken over a 160,000-square-foot facility in Longmont, according to a company news release. The property at 6303 West Dry Creek Parkway will serve as Night Ize’s global distribution hub, the release said. The company’s headquarters will remain at its Central Avenue location in east Boulder.  Read more.

September 5, 2018 – Fort Collins-based Advanced Energy Industries Inc., a provider of power and control technologies, has purchased LumaSense Technologies Holdings Inc., based in Santa Clara, Calif. The acquisition adds a line of photonic-based measurement and monitoring solutions that are synergistic with AE’s power control technologies in both semiconductor and industrial markets. Read More.

The W.M. Keck Foundation has awarded Colorado State University (CSU) a
three-year $1 million grant to make and measure nanoscale spin waves in the

August 8, 2018 – Left Hand Robotics raises $3.7M for snow-clearing robot. SnowBot Pro is GPS-controlled and connected to the cloud and follows a pre-programmed path unassisted to clear sidewalks and bike paths. The system includes LIDAR and RADAR sensors that detect obstacles and allow SnowBot to drive itself safely. Onboard cameras automatically take before and after pictures included in post-action job reports, and monitoring systems allow an operator to monitor the SnowBot in real-time from the Web or a mobile device.
